Opening day is approaching!
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! This is my first entry and I’m still trying to find my voice after having not written much at all since graduating from UW with my Bachelor’s degree in 2021. I’ve tried a few times to write creatively, but I usually give up out of frustration because it ends up sounding boring. So I’m hoping this blog will help me push past the boring and might also help you get to know me a little in the process.
Since I received the keys to my studio on May 1st, I’ve been working every week to perfect the space and make it exactly according to my vision. Right now I’d say we’re about 70% of the way there. The furniture is all in place and the majority of the decorations are up as well. The last big hurdle is the windows. I’ve been vacillating between curtains, blinds, and window films. Since it’s a split level and I’m in the basement, the windows aren’t all that big but they do let in a lot of light. I’m trying to find a balance between natural light (important) and client privacy (way more important). I think I’m going to go with a window film and then have a lot of potted plants on the ledge to provide a bit more privacy and interest, since that wall is otherwise blank.
Beyond the window drama, there isn’t much left to do! I need to figure out how I’ll light the space, but that’s easy. I’m really excited to start taking clients. Actually, I can’t wait! If you’re reading this, I am already so grateful for you and I hope to see you in the studio sometime soon. :)
